These cysts are benign tumours that can form along the tendons or joints in the hands, fingers or wrist. They can sometimes be painful and hamper movement of the affected areas.
What are the most common causes?
Exact causes are unknown, but they are often associated with repetitive movements or tendon injuries. They can form gradually or appear very suddenly.
What are the symptoms?
In many cases, the cyst will appear as a large lump on the wrist; other times, growth will be slower but cause pain as it presses on nearby structures. A cyst may change in size and even disappear on its own.
How is it diagnosed?
Diagnosis is usually easy, though imaging tests may be required to confirm the presence of an underlying cyst or osteoarthritis.
X-ray

The treatment exceeded my expectations. I was able to resume my normal activities, I who foresaw a long convalescence, without music and without sport. Thank you Dr. Brutus!

« I was working in Anticosti. I arranged an appointment on Skype and had my surgery less than three weeks later. »
« I will always be grateful to Dr. Brutus for restoring my quality of life. After a year and a half of pain and sleepless nights, I regained the use of my hands the very same day of my surgery; it was, quite simply, a miracle. Again, my thanks. »
