Insurers

The treatments and services provided by Exception MD are not covered by Quebec’s provincial medicare plan. Our fees are not incidental charges added to the use of the medical insurance card; that practice is formally forbidden. However, an insurance company could contribute to the private care costs of an individual on disability leave to ensure complete healing. Most insurance companies in Quebec have had dealings with private clinics, including ExceptionMD.

Are the treatments and services provided by Exception MD covered by Quebec’s medicare plan (Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec)?
The costs of the medical examination and services provided by Exception MD are not reimbursed by the RAMQ, CNESST or SAAQ. Some employers and private insurers do agree to cover certain types of procedures, however.
How much does a consultation cost?
The cost varies with the specialist and the examinations that will be required. Our secretarial staff will assist in evaluating your needs and tell you the cost when you make your appointment.
How much does private surgery cost?
The cost varies with the complexity of the procedure and with the cost of instruments and prosthetics that might be required. Our staff can give you some general information before you book the appointment, but each case is assessed individually during the initial consultation to confirm the final pricing. It is worthwhile noting that a portion of personal expenditures for medical expenses is tax-deductible. Also, your private insurer (or the CNESST) might be willing to cover some expenses. We suggest checking with your agent beforehand.
How long will I wait for an appointment?
From the time you call, an appointment will usually be scheduled within 4 to 10 days. Depending on your availability and that of your surgeon, the procedure can be done anywhere from 5 to 10 days after the initial appointment.
