Nonsurgical treatment

In the case of an internal tear, the surgeon will splint the hand in an appropriate position; after a period of immobilization, hand therapy will be required.

Surgical treatment

In the case of a laceration, the surgeon will repair the tendon with sutures and splint the hand after surgery. Hand therapy will then be required to prevent stiffness.
